Angie's story...
Allergies have thrown a wrench into this cat's plans! Angie was adopted from AdvoCATs when she was just a little, tiny kitten. When pet allergies became a problem in the home, Angie decided it was time to find new digs. She called AdvoCATs and we said we'd give her a hand. Unfortunately, she's had a very rough time transitioning from this family to the next. Angie has spiraled into a very deep depression. Her vet even recommended pharmaceutical intervention. Yes, Angie's on Prozac. What she's only now realizing is that humans and cats form a very strong bond, and that bond goes two ways. When her family gave her up, she gave up a little, too. Angie's looking for a roommate to help her work through this tough time, maybe someone who understands that it's ok to be sad for a while. Someone who'll show her that things can and will get better.

Come Meet Our Pets...
In addition to our main facility in Madison, Virginia, we hold adoption fairs at Petco stores in Northern Virginia. A schedule of events is available on our website at www.advocats-inc.org.
Our Adoption Process...
Prospective pet parents must fill out an application (available from our website or from a volunteer at our adoption fair) and participate in a brief interview. We will ask to see rental or condo agreements, as well as vet records for any pets currently living in the home. We ask that all members in the family participate in the adoption process, including responsible older children. We reserve the right to perform a home study if necessary. We will also ask for references in the application.

If the adoption is approved, there is a contract to be reviewed and signed. There is an adoption fee of $150 to cover spaying or neutering, all testing and vaccinations, microchipping, and all care up to the point of adoption. New pet parents receive all medical records and a pet parent information packet. Follow-up is done within three weeks of adoption.

We do not adopt kittens younger than 12 weeks. All cats are spayed or neutered before they are released for adoption. Also, kittens younger than 10 months must be adopted in pairs or to a home that already has a cat.

We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
