Danny's story...
This is Danny, a little boy with a big heart. He came from a local shelter in search of a better life. What is a better life? One with lots of good food and clean water. A warm home with plenty of soft spots to fall asleep on. A window to watch the birds flit by. A loving family to pet him and tell him how beautiful and sweet he is. A buddy to play with and show him the ropes.

Danny lived in a foster home for a while, where his fostermom got to know him very well. She shared her thoughts, in the hopes that the right person is reading this and ready to take a chance:

From my experience, Danny will come around again and will develop a trust and confidence to interact and be social and loving with people. He will need a person that understands the confidence/trust building process will take weeks and perhaps a few months before Danny is fully comfortable with people and in a new environment. I recommend strongly that he have a buddy, ideally someone from the playroom that he already knows. Danny's "person" will know he/she has been accepted with Danny gives him/her his signature head-butt-snuggle on their leg or arm. He didn't like being picked up under my care but he would flank me when I slept so he definitely sought out contact/connection on his own time and in his own way. Danny is a kitty that will make a person feel a real sense of accomplishment and will deliver a hundred-fold return on the investment his family puts in to helping him come back out of his shell.

Come Meet Our Pets...
In addition to our main facility in Madison, Virginia, we hold adoption fairs at Petco stores in Northern Virginia. A schedule of events is available on our website at www.advocats-inc.org.
Our Adoption Process...
Prospective pet parents must fill out an application (available from our website or from a volunteer at our adoption fair) and participate in a brief interview. We will ask to see rental or condo agreements, as well as vet records for any pets currently living in the home. We ask that all members in the family participate in the adoption process, including responsible older children. We reserve the right to perform a home study if necessary. We will also ask for references in the application.

If the adoption is approved, there is a contract to be reviewed and signed. There is an adoption fee of $150 to cover spaying or neutering, all testing and vaccinations, microchipping, and all care up to the point of adoption. New pet parents receive all medical records and a pet parent information packet. Follow-up is done within three weeks of adoption.

We do not adopt kittens younger than 12 weeks. All cats are spayed or neutered before they are released for adoption. Also, kittens younger than 10 months must be adopted in pairs or to a home that already has a cat.

We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
