Sasha's story...
Sasha had a great start: Someone found her, took her in, made sure she was spayed and vaccinated, and gave her a good home for a few years. Then poor Sasha's family fell on hard times, with Sasha taking the worst of it. She was dropped off at the Baltimore shelter with a note saying the family couldn't afford to keep her. So now she's working with AdvoCATs to find her a new home, a new family, and a new lease on life. She's looking for a very long term commitment (she's got at least a decade of good livin' ahead of her). She's pretty laid back about most things: she likes good food and clean water; she prefers an open, well-scooped litterbox; she loves toys; and she's partial to sunny napping spots. She gets along well with other cats, but is also old enough to live on her own quite happily. If you have room in your home and are ready to make the commitment, please come and meet Sasha!

Come Meet Our Pets...
In addition to our main facility in Madison, Virginia, we hold adoption fairs at Petco stores in Northern Virginia. A schedule of events is available on our website at www.advocats-inc.org.
Our Adoption Process...
Prospective pet parents must fill out an application (available from our website or from a volunteer at our adoption fair) and participate in a brief interview. We will ask to see rental or condo agreements, as well as vet records for any pets currently living in the home. We ask that all members in the family participate in the adoption process, including responsible older children. We reserve the right to perform a home study if necessary. We will also ask for references in the application.

If the adoption is approved, there is a contract to be reviewed and signed. There is an adoption fee of $150 to cover spaying or neutering, all testing and vaccinations, microchipping, and all care up to the point of adoption. New pet parents receive all medical records and a pet parent information packet. Follow-up is done within three weeks of adoption.

We do not adopt kittens younger than 12 weeks. All cats are spayed or neutered before they are released for adoption. Also, kittens younger than 10 months must be adopted in pairs or to a home that already has a cat.

We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
