About Our Rescue Group
The Nassau County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was first formed in 1973 as "The League for Animal Protection" -- a non-profit organization designed to protect the animals of Nassau County from abuse and neglect, as well as for their common welfare. Under state-mandated statute, we are recognized as a sworn law enforcement agency with the authority to enforce the New York State Agriculture & Markets Laws relating to animals. We are currently the ONLY animal protection agency in Nassau County officially-sanctioned to operate within its borders.
Our Adoption Process
Our animals are fostered by private individuals, the veterinarians treating them, or the town shelter where they were taken.
Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! Please consider a rescue pet before you buy a dog or buy a cat from a breeder or pet store. Contact us, or contact another local humane society, animal shelter or SPCA. |
