| We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties: Kentucky Russell Rescue/Multi-Breed Rescue serves greater Metro Louisville (Kentucky), and Southern Indiana, as well as surrounding areas whenever possible. We are happy to adopt out-of-state to approved adopters. We need volunteers/foster homes throughout KY/IN and surrounding areas!(see below!)
It is a shame to say but our beloved breed can be difficult and many people seek to rid themselves of their terriers quickly. Our volunteers look to find the terriers in our program new homes and give them a chance at a new life but this is a difficult task with the staggering amount of terriers in shelters or being released by owners. Our volunteers work, have families, their own dogs and other animals and yes, even take an occasional vacation. We may not have the instant answer or solution you want, but if you have patience and your Jack Russell is eligible for our program, we can help you.

About Our Rescue Group
"Dogs have given us their absolute all. We are the center of their universe. We are the focus of their love and faith and trust. They serve us in return for scraps. It is without a doubt the best deal man has ever made." - Roger Caras
We do it for the dogs...
KY Russell Rescue/Multi-Breed Rescue is made up of a small group of volunteers dedicated to saving unwanted or abandoned Jack Russell Terriers and other dogs and placing them into permanent homes.
We are all volunteers doing the best that we can with the limited funds and resources available to us. We give the potential adopter as much information as we can, including all vet records, but we normally do not know the history of the dogs, as they are strays at the pound. Very rarely do we have owner releases. Most dogs in our program were minutes away from being put to sleep so the pound could make space for more homeless dogs...
This listing and its administrator are not responsible and/or liable for the outcome of any adoption made through these listings as we are only providing information. This listing and its administrator are also not responsible and are held harmless for the accuracy and reliability of the information provided within these listings. Owners, foster homes and adopters bear the full responsibility and liability for any dog listed.

HOW YOU CAN HELP!!
Donate TIME, $$$, or SUPPLIES...
KY Russell Rescue/Multi-Breed Rescue is an all-volunteer organization. Volunteers are needed for everything from transporting dogs to screening adoption applicants over the phone and Internet. Our greatest need is for foster homes. To fill out a volunteer application, copy & paste the following into an email, answer ALL the questions, and mail to KYRussellRescue@aol.com.
NOTE:
*All dogs in a foster household must be UTD on immunizations, and be spayed/neutered. We do not place rescue dogs in homes with unaltered (unspayed/unneutered) dogs.
* We DO check vet & landlord references, 100% of the time.
* We ONLY place dogs in homes with proper containment (fence, kennel, etc.) or with an owner who agrees to take a dog out on a leash 100% of the time.

Come Meet our Pets
See our available dogs here. Anyone wishing to adopt a dog must first complete and submit an adoption application (see above).
Our Adoption Process
The following steps should help you (and us) determine if there is a match between you and one of our dogs in Rescue. All applicants are thoroughly screened and must meet certain qualifications before being referred for a dog. Approval is based upon the understanding and acceptance of the nature of the dog, the owner's lifestyle, and their ability to house the dog properly. We are an all-volunteer organization, and it takes many hours to review an application and complete an adoption. Please do not submit this application if you are not serious about working with Ky Russell Rescue/RussellRescue, Inc.; it takes away precious time we could be spending helping place dogs in homes with serious adopters.
Dogs in Rescue are in great need of proper homes, and while they may need a little special handling, adopting an adult dog in need can be much more rewarding than starting with a new puppy. Please review the following important points regarding the adoption of a Rescue dog...
NOTE:
*All dogs in an adopter's household must be up-to-date on immunizations, and be spayed/neutered.
*By submitting this application, you are making a formal request to adopt a dog from Ky Russell Rescue/Multi-Breed Rescue. Please do not fill out this application if you are not serious about working with Ky Russell Rescue/Multi-Breed Rescue.
*If a dog is matched to your application and placed in your home, you must agree to keep the terrier for at least 3 weeks (to allow time for the dog and you to acclimate with each other).
*Every applicant must first fill out an adoption form (see below).
*All rescue dogs must have containment (fence, kennel).
*We generally do not place dogs in homes where there are children under six years of age.
*We have few dogs that are good with cats.
*We rarely place Jack Russell Terriers of the same sex together in one home (to reduce the risk of fighting).
*We do not suggest placing dogs where the dog must remain at home alone for extended periods of time.
*All applicants are thoroughly screened and must meet certain qualifications before being referred for a dog.
*Compatible dogs may not be immediately available; your patience is appreciated.
*Filling out an application does not guarantee that we will place a dog with you.
*An adoption fee to KY Russell Rescue/Multi-Breed Rescue is required to adopt a dog, no exceptions!
*Every dog we place is up-to-date on all vaccines, heartworm tested, tested/treated for intestinal parasites, and spayed/neutered.
*The dogs themselves are FREE!...Adoption fees ranging from $200.00-$250.00 are used solely to cover the expense of services provided.
If you have any questions, please email KYRussellRescue@aol.com.
