Fetch 11 Humane Society, Inc
About Our Rescue Group
Fetch 11 Humane Society, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt nonprofit, charitable corporation based in Northern California. The agency's founder has over 30 years of experience caring for dogs, and has certificates in shelter management, shelter enrichment, behavior assessments of dogs, and shelter community outreach practices. The focal point of the agency is the agency’s “no kill” Shelter facility which provides rescue, safety and day-to-day care for displaced dogs and puppies weighing less than 40 pounds. We specialize in sibling groups, bonded pairs of dogs, pregnant female dogs, and mama dogs with litters of pups. In our care, all puppies are made current on their vaccinations and are wormed. All adult dogs are made current on their vaccinations, spayed or neutered, wormed and given a heartworm test. The Shelter facility is actually a house which is undergoing a constant evolution as portions of it are continuously refurbished to better accommodate the dogs in care. Dogs may also be placed in staff members' home and/or foster homes under the agency's roster. Rather than being isolated in kennels, the dogs are placed in common rooms where they learn to socialize well with staff and other dogs. A home-like setting at the shelter level allows the dogs to feel more comfortable at the time of placement, and lets them transfer more easily into their permanent adoptive homes. We work to keep the shelter as "stress free" as possible for the dogs by providing them with behavior assessments and treatment (as needed), play time with staff and other dogs, nap time, socialization and companionship with other dogs, as well as physical, audio and olfactory stress therapy (through the use of massage, environmental music, and DAP fixtures). The dogs in the Shelter are provided expert veterinary care, "24/7" protection, and a modified "raw food diet". The diet is based around kibble, but is supplemented with raw fruit, raw vegetables, raw eggs and raw meat every other day. The dogs are also given vitamins and supplements to their diets as needed and appropriate to each individual dog. All dogs are physically assessed by a licensed veterinarian, and given behavior assessments by trained staff before they are allowed to be adopted. Fetch 11 Humane Society‘s Shelter is a “no kill” facility, which means the agency will not kill (euthanize) any healthy dog (including viable fetuses) or any dog with behavioral problems that is able to recover from illness or injury, or can be rehabilitated with therapeutic intervention, training and/ or medical means.
Come Meet our Pets
Because of the way our facility is set up, we do not allow potential adopters to drop in the facility to look over the dogs. You must be pre-screened (through our paperwork) and have an appointment to visit with one of the dogs before you will be allowed on the property. When you come to the facility, we will generally meet you outside, away from the other dogs (so your presence doesn’t excite or cause stress for them) and have you interact with the dog you’re wanting to see in an open area where the dog will feel more comfortable being with you and meeting you for the first time.
