Michigan Weimaraner Rescue, Inc. is a not for profit, federal 501 (c) 3 charitable organization founded in 1993 by Chris Conklin, our state coordinator and director. With the tireless help of 70 plus volunteers who are dedicated to finding forever homes for displaced Weimaraners, we fostered and placed 86 dogs in 2004. We rely 100% on grants, private contributions, and adoption donations to care for the dogs currently in our rescue; all donations are welcome and needed. All of our rescues are spayed or neutered, currant on Rabies vaccination, heartworm tested and treated if necessary. They also receive monthly heartworm preventative and are microchipped before being placed. All Weims entering our program are fostered with MWR for a minimum of two weeks. During this period the dogs are evaluated and temperament tested by Chris, who has over 22 years experience as an all breed dog trainer, and 16 years specializing in Weimaraner Behavior. We truly believe that by taking our time to get to know each dog as an individual,we can assure both the adoptive families and our Weims the best match for lifelong companionship. Our goal is to not only save Weims,but to find the perfect "forever home" for each dog. The time taken in choosing the right match means you will not only welcome your new Weim's distinctive personality but will be able to enjoy it to the upmost. Michigan Weimaraner Rescue, Inc. operates under the auspices of the Weimaraner Club of America Rescue Committee, according to guidelines established by the Weimaraner Club of America and the American Kennel Club Mission Statement: To find suitable placements, without profit, for adoptable Weimaraners in need that have been relinquished by individuals or organizations. To provide a source of public education of the Weimaraner breed and encourage responsible breeding practices and consumer education.

We are not a shelter; our dogs are in foster homes throughout Michigan, Northern Indiana and Northwest Ohio. Once you are approved, details will be given for meeting your new friend and family member.

**Since we are a non-profit organization, a $10 processing fee to help cover the costs of phone calls and paperwork must be received before we will start to process your application. This fee will then be deducted from the adoption fee of the dog you adopt.** 1. Adoption Donation: $400 under 6 months of age $300 6 months up to one year of age $250 from one to five years $200 five to seven and $150 over seven 2. The minimum adoption fee for very elderly or special needs dogs is $50, and is non refundable. 3. All adoptions are done on a thirty-day trial with a $50 non-refundable deposit. 4. Checks or money orders are preferred, and should be made to MWR. 5. Contract that is signed at the time of adoption is for the life of the dog. If for any reason you are no longer able to keep your Weim you must contact and return the dog to MWR. 6. Obedience classes required for dogs under the age of two. MWR will not ship dogs, you must meet the dog at his foster home, or at our open house.
