Lodi Cat Connection
About Our Rescue Group
Cat Connection is an all-volunteer, small group of dedicated cat lovers - our mission and passion is our goal of "No More Homeless Cats".We organized as a 501(c)3 non-profit in 2002, although all of us were rescuing cats on our own long before then. Our rescued cats & kittens who are up for adoption have been spayed or neutered, tested for FELV/FIV and completely vetted to give them the chance to be as healthy and happy as they can be in their new life. We don't have a shelter, so our cats are fostered in loving homes until we find a permanent one for them. We started this rescue because the kill rate at our shelter was horrible for dogs and even worse for cats.In 1995 only 10 cats were found and redeemed by their owners - the hundreds of others were all put to death. Fortunately our shelter has changed drastically for the better since that time, but almost 1,000 cats and kittens still end their lives there each year and we feel that's 1,000 too many! After years of rescue - we're now putting our greatest efforts into our "Fix-a-Feline" program, partnering with our city shelter and cat lovers to offer free spay/neuter for feral & free-roaming street cats through a Trap-Neuter-Release program with free trap loans and $10 spay/neuter for cats of low income residents - targeted to stop the major sources of unwanted cats. We believe spay/neuter services to be the only effective means to control cat overpopulation anywhere.
Come Meet our Pets
We hold public adoption events twice a month at Discount Pet Foods at 1411 South Stockton Street(corner of Stockton Street & Kettleman Lane in Lodi every Sunday afternoon from 12 pm - 3:30 pm so people can come and meet our cats & kittens in person. We also give out free vouchers for spay/neuter of feral cats and $10 vouchers for low income cat caretakers at those events as well as all week long. Humane trap loans take place all during the week.
Our Adoption Process
Adoptions are conducted by an adoption questionnaire, a consultation with an adoption counselor and if approved, a final contract and the new caretaker may take their cat home with them. If renting, we'll need to contact a landlord to assure cats are allowed. Cat Connection will not adopt a cat into a home where they will have all their toes deliberately amputated (declaw surgery). Prior to adoption, our cats have been spayed or neutered, tested for FELV/FIV, vaccinated, dewormed and on Advantage flea control. Every adoption includes a safety collar & ID tag, veterinary exam, 4# bag of Science Diet food, 30 days of Shelter Care Pet Insurance, "goody bag" for cats and info on cat care and behavior. We guarantee every cat and will always take a cat back if an adoption doesn't work out. We are also available for post-adoption concerns and questions. Our adoption fee is a terrific bargain at only $85 for kittens less than 6 months old and $75 for teenage kittens and adult cats.
